Does lingering up a tree count?

Does lingering up a tree count? 😮

On the Lenten devotionals I've been doing I read the story of Zacchaeus again.

One of my faves because I love trees and was an ace climber as a child.

I was already aware of the symbolism that after eating the forbidden fruit Adam and Eve hid in the tree that they had eaten from according to many scholars/translators. And according to Jewish tradition the tree of knowledge of good and evil (law) was a sycamore,

This time though I started musing on how Jesus knew his name. It says Zacchaeus wanted to see what Jesus looked like so they had not met previously.

And as I mused I was triggered to look up the meaning of his name.

Zacchaeus means innocent, righteous, holy.

Now I see someone hiding in a tree which judges them and brought fear and shame to Adam and Eve.

Then Jesus calls him innocent, righteous.

Jesus restoring his identity.

Was Zacchaeus his real name or imparted by Jesus? We don't know.

I regularly wonder how his life played out.
