God's Pleasure

Here’s some pics of my Mum and her swimming friends down on the Isle of Wight:

"I'm the one in the blue hat. An early birthday celebration as we lingered to have cake."

"Equinoxial swim around the Pole this evening on the very low tide."

She (Liz) is 80 next Tuesday and is having a mezze of doos to celebrate. This swim being one of them.

Lately we’ve been talking about lingering and she’s loving what we’re doing. Her great joy is lingering in water. It’s where she feels God’s pleasure. In a similar way to Eric Liddell, the Chariots of Fire fella, who felt God’s pleasure when he ran. It’s her happy place. Her thin place.

As well as water she loves people.

Lately she’s had a niggle about the lack of lingering after swimming together. In previous times people dallied after the dip over coffee and cake. It’s something she’s missed.

So for this 80th doo, she specifically asked people to linger. To not dash off but stay awhile and celebrate with her. Which they did. Much to her (and God’s?) pleasure.
